These rules are in place to
protect the studios, equipment, and
their users and to facilitate safe operation
by multiple users:

These terms and conditions must be read and understood before borrowing equipment
from the MRC.
I. FIRE SAFETY
- Ensure fire escapes in the studio
are clear and unlocked.
You are responsible for ensuring
all those on the session
are familiar with evacuation
procedures.
- Ensure studio entrances and main access
points to the building remain clear and fire
extinguishers are not used to hold doors open.
- Ensure all guests are aware of fire exit routes.
2.PROHIBITED BEHAVIOUR
- No Eating,
drinking of alcohol
OR soft drinks,
smoking, taking of illegal substances.
- No running or sleeping on studio premises under any circumstances.
- No excessive
monitoring levels.
- All MAINS POWERED
electronic equipment brought
on the UWL premises must have valid PAT certification. Equipment not PAT certified cannot be
used. It will be removed and held in
the technician’s office until the end of your
session.
3. STUDIO
SECURITY
•
Ensure the studio is always LOCKED whenever it is left unattended, even for a short time.
- DRUMKITS and
AMPLIFIERS are NOT interchangeable between studios and therefore must not be taken from their
specified location.
4. STUDIO HOUSEKEEPING (At the end of the session):
- You must return Keys & equipment to the MRC 15mins
BEFORE the end of your session.
The mixing console must
be flattened or ZEROED, patch cables removed, audio monitors cut and the correct POWER DOWN procedure is followed.
- Studios and equipment must be left tidy., If you
have moved the drum kit in the room, please
reassemble it at the end of your
session, stack microphone stands to
the side of the live room and cover
pianos when covers have been provided.
- All booked equipment
must be returned to the MRC, or
a Fine will be applied for any late returned)
5. STUDIO ACCESS (including access to MRC loan equipment)
- No student card = No studio
or equipment
- No access will be allowed
unless FINES have been paid or an authorised agreement
to pay has been arranged with the MRC.
- All GUESTS on your session
MUST be registered before the session
begins and forms are available at the MRC.
- The student
named on the booking will be held responsible for the actions of their guests. Guests must never be left unattended in studios.
6. SESSION TIME KEEPING
Session times:
9.00am - I 0.45am
/ I 1.00 - I 2.45 / 1.00pm - 2.45pm / 3.00pm - 4.45 / 5.00pm - 6.45pm I 7.00pm - 8.45pm
(no evening session Fri, Sat, Sun) (Weekends close
at 4.30 p.m)
7.MRC
When borrowing, equipment must be checked with a member of
staff; any damages must be indicated
and noted.
- Equipment must be returned in the condition it has been issued.
•
Equipment must not be left unattended unless
left in a locked and secure room.
- Equipment must not be taken
abroad without showing valid insurance details before booking equipment
- Any
loss or damage must be reported to the MRC, responsibility must be taken for repair or replacement of the item.
•
Health and Safety procedures
must be followed with every item of kit
- All booked equipment must be collected
before your booking time ends.
- Equipment must be returned on time or fine of £6.00
per item will be applied.
•
No access to kit will be allowed unless fines have been paid for
or an authorised agreement to
pay has been arranged with us in the MRC.
- Training
must be completed before use of equipment
- Equipment is only to be used for approved University work.
- Health and Safety procedures must be followed
with every item. All items are PAT tested and all electrical items are Prime tested regularly.
- Please only collect equipment once you
have received a conformation email.
8. PIANOS
The Studio Instruments MUST NOT be moved
Piano covers should be rolled up and never touch the floor, dust
can damage the finish of the instruments.
Before raising the Piano check all hinge pins are in place and
fully seated in the hinges, any missing or misaligned please report
immediately.
Hinge pins and piano lid MUST NEVER be removed.
Fold back the music stand cover before raising the lid, at 90 degrees.
There are 2 holes for stays on larger pianos.
DO NOT TOUCH any part of the inside of the piano.
Pianos should not be used as tables for coats, bags, instruments,
or technical cases.
Please report any damage, breakage or if tuning starts to drift
to a technician or the MRC.DO NOT tempted to retune yourself.
Please close and recover the instrument and lock if key issued,
at the end of your session/event.
Pianos in Vestry Hall can be moved with EXTREME CARE.
Staff and students must unlock the front locking wheels before
moved the instruments, the lip MUST be down.
The
Larger D grand must be locked when not in use, a key is available from the MRC.
The D is stored behind the screens and the Boston in front.
No Pianos should ever be place near to
or touching a radiator or other source of heat.
For recording purpose only, it is ok
to remove the front panel carefully and re-seated and aligned correctly. Two people
should do this.
